On June 9, 2011, Gov. Robert Bentley signed into law Act 11-613, the ignition interlock bill (HB 361), and Act 11-621, the double minimum punishment bill (SB 67), both effective September 1, 2011. However, the implementation date for the ignition interlock act will not start until one year later, on September 1, 2012.
